Principles of yurt floor diagram
Yurt ReportYurts are traditional and they are the latest thing. For hundreds of years the people of Central Asia, such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan favored yurts because of their versatility and mobility. Also known as "gurs," yurts are traditionally made of felt or canvas. These days, these circular tents are common substitutes for cabins in dozens of state parks, including Maryland and Montana.
Nearly all today's yurts in the US and Canada are constructed from highly specialized materials. They are designed and constructed to endure extreme weather conditions. And putting a yurt together is a difficult job, as they are not intended to be shifted around.
