Yurt Update

Yurts are archaic and they are high-tech. For hundreds of years the people of Central Asia, such as Kazakhstan and Siberia utilized yurts because of their sensibility and mobility. Also called "gurs," yurts are traditionally made of felt or canvas. Today, these circular tents are common substitutes for cabins in lots of state parks, including Washington and Vermont.

Many contemporary yurts in North America are constructed using highly specialized components. They are planned and crafted to withstand severe violent storms. And assembling a yurt is a difficult task, as they are not designed to be shifted about.
